Music Publishing is the commercial exploitation of songs through the issuance of mechanical licenses, synchronization licenses, performing rights licenses as well as other licenses authorizing various uses of the songs.
LUX Sound Music Publishing, a BMI affiliate, offers music publishing services for songwriters & artist in the areas:
- Synchronization Licenses
- Digital Performance Rights
- Mechanical Licenses
- Reproduction Rights
- Public Performance Licenses
- Public Performance Rights
Songwriters that have written songs with potential for success may enter into a short-term publishing agreement wherein LUX Sound Music Publishing would agree to make efforts to place the song before major recording artists. The rights to solicit usage of a song on behalf of a songwriter are the ADMINISTRATION RIGHTS to that song. We "administer" the rights to this song & handle all “negotiated” requests for song licensing from our publishing catalog in-house.
LUX Sound Music Publishing, on behalf of that songwriter, is responsible for finding ways to exploit that song and earn more money - for the songwriter. Every time a song is recorded, performed live, utilized in a motion picture, incorporated into a television program, television commercial, website and newer ways the songwriter makes money. The majority of songwriter revenue comes from Mechanical and Performance monies through Public Performance Rights overseen by BMI, Mechanical Licenses, Printed Music & Synchronization “Sync” Licenses.

Please understand that we get inundated with song submissions & it is nearly impossible to respond to everyone while at the same time doing the best job possible for the songwriters we currently represent. If you do not receive a response from us or you receive a "pass" on your material, do not be discouraged. Continue perfecting your songs, continue mastering your craft & continue submitting your songs to companies that can help develop your career like LUX Sound Music Publishing. It doesn't help your career if the only people that have heard your music are your family & your neighbors. There may be many reasons why we may pass on a song. If you want to get an idea of what we are looking for, turn on any radio station & listen to the songs at the top of the charts. The songs you hear are what you are competing with and it is those top notch star songwriters with which we will be comparing your work to.
